National Safety Month 2021
June is National Safety Month. This year is the 25th anniversary of NSM, an annual observance created to inspire people to keep each other safe.
The National Safety Council launched NSM in 1996 to promote safe behaviour around the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths at work, on the roads and in communities.
In the UK, there are over 1.5 million working people suffering from a work-related illness and around 40 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury.
Safety is at the very core of what we do, and the safety of our clients and their work environments is our top priority. Most of the services we offer focus on ensuring companies remain compliant by keeping their equipment tested and up to date. For example, our fire safety services safeguard businesses and their buildings by checking their equipment is in full working order and they are protected in a potentially dangerous situation.
“As organisations navigated the biggest workplace safety hazard in a generation, traditional safety risks never paused, and far too many people did not make it home to their loved ones at the end of their day,” NSC President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin said.
Since March 2020, with the COVID 19 pandemic, the safety of our employees and our clients has had to be at the forefront of what we do. We have been operating throughout the whole year carrying out essential services to a wide variety of businesses and organisations, including hospitals. We are proud to say that our employees were provided with and used correct PPE, and we adhered to Government guidelines regarding social distancing and self-isolation at all times.
