EV's (Electric Vehicles) - common myths broken down


Over 90% of cars sales historically have been made up of vehicles that run predominantly on traditional fuels such as gasoline or diesel. However, sales of vehicles that run on other fuels, particularly electricity, are rising, nevertheless.


Let's look at some of the most common myths surrounding electrical vehicles and what they may or may not be capable of, below.


Myth:

The production of batteries makes electric vehicles less environmentally friendly than gasoline-powered automobiles.


Fact:

Even after taking into account the electricity consumed for charging, electric vehicles often have a lower carbon footprint than gasoline-powered automobiles.


Myth:

The range of electric vehicles is insufficient to meet the needs of daily travel.


Fact:

The range of an electric vehicle is more than adequate for daily use in the UK.


Myth:

There are no outlets anywhere.


Fact:

Many people can meet their driving needs by simply plugging in at home. However if needs be, there are more than enough charging stations spread throughout the UK and further afield, with clearly marked out stations for those travelling long distances.


Workplace charging is also becoming more widely available.
