Protest ES Ltd were chosen by ZSL London Zoo to deliver a programme of PAT testing.
We deliver specialist services to a wide variety of facilities, and we had to use all our experience on this project as there were many different environments to carry out testing in.
Zoological Society of London Zoo (ZSL) is the world's oldest scientific zoo. It was opened in April 1828, and was originally intended to be used as a collection for scientific study. In 1831, the animals of the Tower of London menagerie were transferred to the zoo's collection. It was opened to the public in 1847. Today, it houses a collection of 673 species and around 20,000 animals.
As well as being the first scientific zoo, ZSL London Zoo also opened the first reptile house (1849), first public aquarium (1853), first insect house (1881) and the first children's zoo (1938). With all these facilities, our engineers were inspecting and testing in many contrasting environments, and were praised by staff at the zoo for their delivery of reports, understanding and adaptability.
Protest Es Ltd carried out a programme of PAT testing in order to achieve the following:
Achieve compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 with a structured PPM
Meet the insurance companies requirements following the internal audit
Ensure that any potential health and safety issues are quickly addressed and highlighted
Collation of electrical documents for the whole site are safely held electronically in one place
Paperless reporting that can be held and viewed at all times securely online
Peace of mind for the duty holder(s) who are deemed responsible for health and safety
It was a great responsibility to carry out these works at such a prestigious and historic location, and our engineers enjoyed the visit as well.
